It’s with great pride—and a touch of bittersweet emotion—that we announce the completion of the final home designed under Laurie C. Fisher Architecture (LCFA).
Before founding PHNX Development, Laurie Fisher led LCFA for nearly two decades, creating award-winning, modern homes known for their warmth, creativity, and livability. This final LCFA project marks the culmination of that era—one defined by artistry and innovation—and the continuation of Laurie’s evolution as an architect and builder redefining what it means to build for resilience.
A Polynesian-Inspired Modern Retreat

Located in the San Diego neighborhood of Point Loma, this remodel transforms a dated mid-century house into a playful modern retreat inspired by Polynesian design.
The concept revolves around a “Sand, Sea & Sun” palette:
Sand provides a grounding base of warm woods and natural tones.
Sea introduces deep blues and aquatic patterns.
Sun infuses the interiors with vibrant oranges and sunset reds.
The primary suite, affectionately called the Bali Hai Room after one of San Diego’s most iconic waterfront landmarks, features cedar-clad vaulted ceilings and expansive windows that frame the surrounding trees—creating a serene, treehouse-like escape filled with natural light.
From LCFA to PHNX: Carrying the Design DNA Forward
As the Founder and CEO of PHNX Development, Laurie continues her commitment to design excellence while embracing a mission that addresses today’s climate realities. At PHNX, she leads the creation of the PHNX Home—the nation’s first Type IA Non-Combustible, net-zero custom home—offering a path forward for families rebuilding in wildfire-prone regions.
“While closing this LCFA chapter is bittersweet, it’s also an exciting continuation of the same purpose that has guided my work from the beginning—creating homes that are both beautiful and enduring.”— Laurie Fisher, Architect & CEO, PHNX Development
The legacy of LCFA lives on through PHNX: design-driven, sustainable, and resilient homes that not only honor California’s architectural heritage but redefine its future.
