PHNX Development was recently featured on Episode 2 of The Altadena Rebuild Exchange, a new podcast created to help wildfire survivors navigate the rebuilding process with real, practical guidance from industry experts. Hosted by Altadena native and Eaton Fire survivor Kevork Douzadjian, the series brings together voices across architecture, engineering and construction to support homeowners rebuilding after the January 2025 wildfires.
Kevork lost both his home and his beloved small business, Apricoty — a handcrafted natural skincare company he built from the ground up in Altadena — in the Eaton Fire. Rather than turning inward, he channeled that loss into action by launching this podcast to help others facing the same challenges.
In Episode 2, Laurie Fisher and Sarah Rodgers share how PHNX’s Type 1A noncombustible construction is giving wildfire survivors the opportunity to rebuild stronger, safer, and more resilient homes.
What You’ll Learn in This Episode:
How Type 1A noncombustible construction differs from traditional wood framing
Why rebuilding decisions today impact long-term safety, durability, and insurance costs
How PHNX’s integrated design-build approach simplifies the rebuilding process
The importance of a trauma-informed approach when working with wildfire survivors
As wildfire risks continue to increase across California, more homeowners are exploring alternatives to traditional wood-framed construction. Noncombustible building methods, like those used by PHNX Development, are designed to significantly reduce fire risk while improving long-term durability and energy performance. For many families rebuilding after wildfire loss, these approaches offer not just a home, but greater peace of mind for the future.
